Message from the Board
We
wish to extend a warm welcome to all those attending the Magnetawan Fall Fair.
Our Fair is deeply rooted and is an integral part of our municipality. This
yearly event draws members of our community and surrounding areas together to
experience what has become a lasting tradition for 145 years as of 2022.
The
history of Agricultural Fairs in Canada dates back to very early times. Fairs
were a means to spread new ideas in animal husbandry, improving livestock
production, and an opportunity to introduce the farming machines that were
gradually beginning to appear.
There
were flower shows, seed competitions, vegetable displays and exhibits of
spinning, weaving, knitting and sewing. One of the most popular categories was
Domestic Science: cooking, baking, preserving, canning, where now the men are
competing with pride and showing their culinary skills.
While
we have seen many changes in the past couple of years due to the pandemic, the
commitment of our Exhibitors has remained as strong today as it was at our
first fair in 1877. A great deal of time and thought has gone into producing
this new Prize Book and it is our hope that you find some new and interesting
changes that appeal to you, our Exhibitors.
We
would like to take this time to say a very big THANK YOU to our Sponsors of
this Prize Book. We would also like to thank our Volunteers, our Community and
Organizers for their countless hours of hard work and dedication to make our
Fall Fair such a success.
The
Magnetawan Fall Fair is great for all ages and offers each of us, young and old
the opportunity to come together, to display our skills and to better
understand the role agriculture plays in our lives. So come out and celebrate
the pioneering spirit with us.
We'll see you at the Fall Fair!
