Message from the Board

Welcome from the Magnetawan Agricultural Society’s 148th Fall Fair Board!

This prize book is your guide to all the exciting competitions waiting for you to participate in. Our Fair is all about community, creativity, and celebrating the talents of people of all ages. We’re proud of everyone who takes part, and we hope you enjoy showcasing your hard work and cheering on others.

Our Fair has roots that are embedded into the fabric of our community here in Magnetawan. Although folks have come and gone from Magnetawan, they often still return to relive the moments of their time spent here. Coming to and participating in our Annual Fall Fair is certainly one of the most popular ways our Fair draws people from all over the province and beyond to come and be part of this wonderful community year after year.

The history of Agricultural Fairs in Canada dates back to 1792 with the first ever Agricultural Fair taking place in Niagara on the Lake. Agricultural Fairs were a means to spread new ideas in animal husbandry, to improve livestock production, to introduce the farming machines that were gradually beginning to appear, and most importantly for communities to come together in celebration and joy. There were livestock competitions, flower shows, seed competitions, vegetable displays and exhibits of spinning, weaving, knitting and sewing. Family games and community dances were also held to bring the community together.

While changes in livestock showing and governmental regulations that have come into play in the last few years, have made it a little more challenging for our exhibitors to participate, our commitment to hosting the Fair remains just as strong as it was back when our Society hosted our first Fair in 1877. Our exhibitors have continued to amaze us with awesome exhibits and contributions that enhance the Fair in today’s standards.

A great deal of time and thought has gone into producing this new Prize Book for 2026 and it is our hope that you find some new and interesting changes and additions that appeal to you, our long-standing exhibitors, and potentially to new exhibitors as well.

We would like to take this time to say a very big THANK YOU to our sponsors of this Prize Book. We would also like to thank our Volunteers, our Community and Organizers for their countless hours of hard work and dedication to make our Fall Fair such a success.

The Fall Fair is a time-honoured tradition that celebrates agriculture, craftsmanship, and community involvement. This book details the classes and prizes available to exhibitors of all ages. We extend our sincere thanks to everyone who contributes their time, talent, and support, and we wish all participants the very best of luck.

See you at the Fair!

We look forward to seeing you in 2026!

We Honour the Memory of those who generously contributed their time and skills to help put on many Magnetawan Fall Fairs
