2026 Best Vegetable Garden Competition 

BEST VEGETABLE GARDEN COMPETITION

Prizes: 1st-$50.00 2nd-$40.00 3rd-$30.00 4th- $20.00 5th-$10.00

  • Entrants must be from within the Municipality of Magnetawan

  • Entrants must have a valid Magnetawan Agricultural Society Membership

  • Entries must be registered with the Secretary by August 15th , 2026 for judging on August 22nd ,2026

The following criteria will be used in the judging process:

  • Vegetable Garden Composition – 25 points for overall variety of vegetables being grown, number of vegetable plants per variety.

  • Arrangement – 25 points for vegetable garden sizing, consideration for Spring harvesting plants, Summer harvesting plants and Fall harvesting plants, allowances for vine plants, ground spreading plants as well as appropriate space for vegetables that grow above and below the soil.

  • Condition and Maintenance – 15 points for overall cleanliness, tidiness and visual arrangement of vegetable species.

  • Garden Features – 15 points for appropriate use of fencing, flower edging and garden art. Could be a combination of flat garden beds, raised garden beds and/or planter use.

  • Environmental Practices – 15 points for use of good environmental practices with mulches, compost and irrigation techniques.

  • Community Contribution – 5 points for how the property contributes to the beautification of the neighborhood and the environmental health of the community.
